Southampton
Why Hampshire Families Are Choosing Our Safety Watch
Southampton is Hampshire's largest city, and its elderly population continues to grow. Across Southampton, Eastleigh, Fareham, and the wider Hampshire area, tens of thousands of older residents live independently — many in homes that are a considerable distance from their closest family members. Traditional pendant alarms tie the wearer to their home. Our Smart Safety Watch removes that limitation entirely. Using 4G mobile connectivity, the watch provides GPS tracking, fall detection, and an SOS emergency button that works anywhere — at home in Shirley, walking in Southampton Common, shopping in West Quay, or visiting family in Winchester. Southampton's position on the south coast also means many elderly residents enjoy walking along the waterfront, visiting the country parks in Hedge End and Eastleigh, or taking day trips to the New Forest. The watch provides continuous protection during all of these activities, giving families confidence that their loved one can enjoy life while remaining safe.
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board encourage the adoption of assistive technology for older adults. Our watch supports Southampton City Council's commitment to enabling independent living by providing mobile safety monitoring that extends beyond the home — something that council-provided community alarms cannot achieve.

Important Information
Mobile Signal Requirements
This device requires a mobile signal to connect to our Care Team. In areas with no mobile signal, an alarm call cannot be made, two-way voice will not work, and your location cannot be identified — in the same way a mobile phone cannot make a call without signal. Our devices will operate on weaker signals, however a 4G connection is recommended for the fastest possible response.
Pacemakers and Implanted Cardiac Devices
If you have a pacemaker or other implanted cardiac device, keep the watch at least 15cm (6 inches) away from the device at all times. We recommend wearing the watch on the opposite wrist from your pacemaker — for example, on your right wrist if your pacemaker is on the left side. This follows international safety standards ISO 14117 and IEC 60601-1-2 covering electromagnetic compatibility for medical devices. Modern pacemakers are designed with strong shielding, but maintaining this distance ensures safe and comfortable use. If you have any concerns, please consult your GP or the manufacturer of your pacemaker before use.
Product Appearance
The device you receive may look slightly different from the images shown on this page. All devices supplied have the same features and functionality as described.
Fall Detection Limitations
Fall detection is highly accurate but may not detect all fall types (e.g. slow slides from a chair). It may occasionally trigger during vigorous activity. It offers an extra layer of protection, but wherever possible, the SOS button should be pressed to ensure help is requested.
Response Time
99.6% of alarm calls are answered within 60 seconds. This is a measured figure recorded across live alarm activations, not a target or estimate. In the rare cases where response takes slightly longer, our team continues to monitor until help arrives.
Common questions in Southampton
Frequently asked questions
Does the watch cover Southampton, Portsmouth, and wider Hampshire?
Yes. 4G coverage is excellent across Southampton, Portsmouth, Eastleigh, Fareham, Winchester, Romsey, and Hedge End. The multi-network SIM selects the strongest signal automatically. GPS tracking works reliably outdoors throughout Hampshire, including coastal areas and the New Forest fringes.
Can you deliver to SO and PO postcodes?
We offer free next-day delivery to all Hampshire postcodes including SO (Southampton), PO (Portsmouth/Fareham), and surrounding areas. Orders placed before 2pm Monday to Friday are dispatched the same day.
How does this compare to Southampton City Council's community alarm?
Southampton City Council offers a community alarm service with pendant-style devices that work within the home via a base unit. Our watch provides mobile protection using 4G, so the wearer is covered at home, in Southampton Common, at West Quay, or visiting the New Forest. The two services complement each other for complete coverage.
Is the watch useful for elderly residents who visit the New Forest?
Yes. The New Forest has good 4G coverage along main routes and in villages, though very remote woodland areas may have reduced signal. GPS tracking works well outdoors throughout the Forest. The watch stores the last known location, so even in areas with temporary signal loss, contacts can see the most recent position.
How water-resistant is the watch for coastal living?
The watch is IP67 rated, meaning it withstands splashes, rain, and brief submersion. It is perfect for walks along Southampton Water or the Solent coast. It should be removed before swimming or prolonged water exposure, but it handles everyday contact with water without any issues.
Can family members in different locations all receive alerts?
Yes. Up to five emergency contacts can be added, and they can be located anywhere in the world. All contacts receive simultaneous app notifications when the SOS button is pressed or a fall is detected. The watch then calls each contact in turn until someone answers for two-way voice communication.
Does the monthly plan include everything needed?
Yes. The monthly subscription includes the built-in SIM card, mobile data for GPS tracking and app connectivity, unlimited calls to emergency contacts, fall detection monitoring, and full access to the companion app. There are no additional charges, activation fees, or hidden costs.
How quickly can the watch be set up after delivery?
Most customers complete setup within ten minutes of opening the box. Charge the watch for two hours, download the free companion app, scan the QR code included in the box, and add your emergency contacts. The SIM is pre-activated, so the watch is ready to use as soon as it is charged.
