Nottingham
Nottingham Families Deserve Better Than a Pendant Alarm
Nottingham sits at the heart of the East Midlands, surrounded by towns and suburbs where hundreds of thousands of elderly residents live independently. From the city centre to Beeston, Long Eaton, Mansfield, and Newark, families are spread across a wide area — making it difficult to check in on elderly relatives as often as they would like. Traditional pendant alarms only work within the home and rely on a landline that many people no longer have. Our Smart Safety Watch replaces that outdated approach with a wearable device that works everywhere via 4G mobile connectivity. The wearer gets GPS tracking, automatic fall detection, and an SOS button in a comfortable watch they can wear around the clock. Nottingham's mix of urban streets and green spaces — from the Lace Market to Wollaton Park — means elderly residents need protection that travels with them. Whether your parent walks to the local shop, rides the tram, or visits friends in Derby, the watch keeps you connected to their safety.
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System support the use of assistive technology for older residents. Our watch complements Nottingham City Council's adult social care provision and similar services across the East Midlands, offering the kind of mobile monitoring that stationary home alarms simply cannot provide.

Important Information
Mobile Signal Requirements
This device requires a mobile signal to connect to our Care Team. In areas with no mobile signal, an alarm call cannot be made, two-way voice will not work, and your location cannot be identified — in the same way a mobile phone cannot make a call without signal. Our devices will operate on weaker signals, however a 4G connection is recommended for the fastest possible response.
Pacemakers and Implanted Cardiac Devices
If you have a pacemaker or other implanted cardiac device, keep the watch at least 15cm (6 inches) away from the device at all times. We recommend wearing the watch on the opposite wrist from your pacemaker — for example, on your right wrist if your pacemaker is on the left side. This follows international safety standards ISO 14117 and IEC 60601-1-2 covering electromagnetic compatibility for medical devices. Modern pacemakers are designed with strong shielding, but maintaining this distance ensures safe and comfortable use. If you have any concerns, please consult your GP or the manufacturer of your pacemaker before use.
Product Appearance
The device you receive may look slightly different from the images shown on this page. All devices supplied have the same features and functionality as described.
Fall Detection Limitations
Fall detection is highly accurate but may not detect all fall types (e.g. slow slides from a chair). It may occasionally trigger during vigorous activity. It offers an extra layer of protection, but wherever possible, the SOS button should be pressed to ensure help is requested.
Response Time
99.6% of alarm calls are answered within 60 seconds. This is a measured figure recorded across live alarm activations, not a target or estimate. In the rare cases where response takes slightly longer, our team continues to monitor until help arrives.
Common questions in Nottingham
Frequently asked questions
Does the watch get 4G signal across Nottingham and the East Midlands?
Yes. 4G coverage is strong across Nottingham city centre, Beeston, Long Eaton, Mansfield, Newark, and neighbouring Derby and Leicester. The watch uses a multi-network SIM that selects the strongest available signal, providing reliable connectivity across the region.
Can the watch be delivered to NG and DE postcodes?
We offer free next-day delivery to all East Midlands postcodes including NG (Nottingham), DE (Derby), LE (Leicester), and surrounding areas. Orders placed before 2pm ship the same day.
How does this work alongside Nottingham City Council telecare?
Nottingham City Council provides a home-based community alarm service using pendant alarms and a landline-connected base unit. Our watch extends protection beyond the home — it works on the Nottingham tram, at the shops in Victoria Centre, in Wollaton Park, and anywhere with 4G signal. The two services work well together.
Does the watch work on the Nottingham Express Transit tram?
Yes. The watch works on the NET tram network throughout Nottingham and into the surrounding suburbs. 4G coverage is available along the tram routes, and GPS tracking updates as the wearer travels. The SOS button is available at all times during tram journeys.
How often does the GPS location update?
In normal mode, the GPS location updates every few minutes to conserve battery. When the SOS button is pressed or a fall is detected, the location updates immediately and continues at frequent intervals so contacts can track the wearer's position in real time during an emergency.
Is the watch suitable for someone with dementia?
The watch can be very helpful for people with early to mid-stage dementia. The geofence feature sends an alert if the wearer leaves a designated safe area, and GPS tracking allows family members to locate them quickly. The watch is designed to be worn continuously and is difficult to remove accidentally.
What happens if the wearer accidentally presses the SOS button?
After pressing the SOS button, there is a brief countdown period during which the wearer can cancel the alert. If cancelled, no notification is sent. If the countdown completes, the alert is sent to all nominated contacts. Occasional accidental presses are normal and easily dismissed.
Can I buy the watch as a gift for an elderly relative?
Yes. Many customers buy the watch as a gift for elderly parents, grandparents, or other relatives. You can set up the companion app and emergency contacts yourself, then simply give the charged watch to the wearer. The setup can be completed before or after gifting.
