Bristol
Helping Bristol's Elderly Stay Safe and Independent
Bristol is one of the South West's most dynamic cities, but its steep streets and spread-out suburbs can make life challenging for older residents. With over 65,000 residents aged 65 and over in Bristol alone — and many more across neighbouring Bath, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire — there is real demand for practical safety solutions. Our Smart Safety Watch meets that need. It provides GPS location tracking, automatic fall detection, and an SOS emergency button in a lightweight wristwatch that connects via 4G. Whether your loved one lives in Clifton, Bedminster, or one of the surrounding towns like Keynsham or Portishead, you can check their location anytime through the free companion app. Bristol's famously hilly terrain — from Park Street to Totterdown — makes fall detection particularly valuable. The watch's built-in accelerometer identifies fall patterns and sends alerts automatically, even if the wearer is unable to press the SOS button.
University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust and the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board actively support technology-enabled care for older adults. Our watch complements Bristol City Council's reablement and telecare services, providing continuous protection that follows the wearer beyond the reach of home-based alarm systems.

Important Information
Mobile Signal Requirements
This device requires a mobile signal to connect to our Care Team. In areas with no mobile signal, an alarm call cannot be made, two-way voice will not work, and your location cannot be identified — in the same way a mobile phone cannot make a call without signal. Our devices will operate on weaker signals, however a 4G connection is recommended for the fastest possible response.
Pacemakers and Implanted Cardiac Devices
If you have a pacemaker or other implanted cardiac device, keep the watch at least 15cm (6 inches) away from the device at all times. We recommend wearing the watch on the opposite wrist from your pacemaker — for example, on your right wrist if your pacemaker is on the left side. This follows international safety standards ISO 14117 and IEC 60601-1-2 covering electromagnetic compatibility for medical devices. Modern pacemakers are designed with strong shielding, but maintaining this distance ensures safe and comfortable use. If you have any concerns, please consult your GP or the manufacturer of your pacemaker before use.
Product Appearance
The device you receive may look slightly different from the images shown on this page. All devices supplied have the same features and functionality as described.
Fall Detection Limitations
Fall detection is highly accurate but may not detect all fall types (e.g. slow slides from a chair). It may occasionally trigger during vigorous activity. It offers an extra layer of protection, but wherever possible, the SOS button should be pressed to ensure help is requested.
Response Time
99.6% of alarm calls are answered within 60 seconds. This is a measured figure recorded across live alarm activations, not a target or estimate. In the rare cases where response takes slightly longer, our team continues to monitor until help arrives.
Common questions in Bristol
Frequently asked questions
Does the watch provide good coverage across Bristol and the surrounding area?
Yes. 4G coverage is strong across Bristol, Bath, Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon, Portishead, Keynsham, and Yate. GPS tracking works reliably outdoors throughout the region. The watch also uses Wi-Fi networks for indoor positioning in areas with weaker GPS signal.
Can you deliver to Bristol and North Somerset postcodes?
We offer free next-day delivery to all postcodes in the Bristol area including BS, BA (Bath), and surrounding North Somerset and South Gloucestershire areas. Orders placed before 2pm Monday to Friday ship the same day.
How does this compare to Bristol City Council's telecare alarm?
Bristol City Council offers a home-based telecare service with pendant alarms connected to a base unit. Our watch works anywhere via 4G — at home, on a walk along the harbourside, visiting the shops in Broadmead, or catching a bus to Bath. Many Bristol families combine both services for comprehensive protection inside and outside the home.
Is the watch helpful on Bristol's steep hills and uneven streets?
Very much so. Bristol's steep terrain — from Park Street to the hills of Totterdown and Knowle — increases fall risk for elderly residents. The automatic fall detection feature is designed for exactly these situations, sending alerts to family even if the wearer cannot press the SOS button after a fall.
What network does the watch connect to?
The watch contains a built-in multi-network 4G SIM card that automatically selects the strongest available signal. This means it works reliably across different parts of Bristol and the wider South West without being limited to a single mobile network provider.
Can I monitor the watch from a different city?
Yes. The companion app works from anywhere with an internet connection. If you live in London, Manchester, or overseas, you can still view your loved one's Bristol location in real time, receive SOS and fall alerts, and call the watch directly. There is no distance limitation.
Is there a minimum subscription period?
No. The monthly subscription is rolling and can be cancelled at any time with no exit fees, minimum term, or cancellation penalties. The subscription covers the built-in SIM, data, unlimited calls to emergency contacts, and full access to the companion app.
Can the watch be used by someone with arthritis or limited mobility?
Yes. The watch is designed with accessibility in mind. The SOS button is large and requires only a light press to activate. The silicone strap is soft and easy to fasten, and the watch face is clear with large text. No fine motor skills are needed to operate it day to day.
